A Smelly House

Autumn and I have a love/hate relationship.

Yes, I’m talking about the season, Autumn.

Autumn brings cooler weather and everything pumpkin spice which I absolutely love. Up North where I live, Autumn also turns the leaves the most vibrant, beautiful colors imaginable. With my love for Autumn also comes a dread. I hate to think about the fact that Autumn means that the cold, dreary winter is coming. Towards the end of Autumn is when it really gets tough. Turning the furnace on for the first time each year is always a nightmare. Last year, I turned the furnace on for the first time that season, and the house smelt like burning dust for days. I have to admit that I was pregnant last year, so maybe that’s why the smell bothered me so badly, but I am still dreading having to turn on the furnace again this year. Thinking back on it, not only did the house have a funny smell for days, a smokey residue filled the air. I’m guessing it’s just the furnace burning away all the dust and cobwebs from the summer months, but whatever it is, I don’t like it. I’m thinking about asking one of my good friends to come over and give me some advice on how to clean my furnace properly so that I can avoid the stink in the years to come. With all that said, I’m not really sure whether I love Autumn or hate it. Maybe, I’ll love it more if I can keep my furnace from filling my house with smoke and stinking it up each year.
