Fall is the worst season

I don’t know how folks live like this.

These intermediate seasons in between the big ones – winter and summer – are miserable for me.

And yet, my neighbors are all celebrating. I couldn’t help but overhear them talking about the lower energy costs, the fresh air availability, and the ability to spend quality outdoor time without any major heatstroke concerns… and the whole time I was scoffing to myself. I literally cannot understand how Fall brings them all these benefits, when it’s the complete opposite for me. First of all, in the fall you never know how to judge the temperature requirements for the day when you wake up. It’s always freezing cold in the morning, causing you to put on a ton of layers to stay warm as you crank up the heating system to stay comfortable. Then, a few hours later, it’s total chaos when the temperature has inevitably shifted. Usually it’s much warmer as the sun comes out and everything has to change again. Your clothing has to be swapped out and your thermostat has to be turned down rapidly. If you leave your windows open, you risk natural temperature control leaving you with a freezing cold or rain-soaked home. Not to mention, I can’t enjoy the fresh and crisp fall air like my neighbors… because I have terrible fall allergies. Everything in the air makes me cough and sneeze all season. I have no choice but to rely on my HVAC system and piles of clothing. The whole thing is so stressful, I just pray for the solid cold temperatures of winter.
