I’m in a bit of a difficult arena right now, & I am not quite sure what to do about it. I easily want to be kind & supportive to my friends at all times, & I would never want to burn any relationship bridges. That being said, I feel like I have encountered a certainly sensitive issue that I am not sure how to handle. A few afternoons ago I agreed to stop at my friend’s home & stay with him for a couple of afternoons. As soon as I arrived, her excruciating indoor air quality smacked me right in the face. It literally stinks like she has not left her household or let in any fresh air in over 10 years. I took three steps in the door & nearly passed out from the uncomfortable humidity & smell that nearly choked me. From that moment forward, I didn’t know how to tell him about her central Heating, Ventilation, & A/C system however it has been on my mind every single second that I’ve been breathing this disgusting indoor air. I feel excruciating about it, because I know he’s been unhappy with her residing situation & does not need Heating, Ventilation, & A/C stress to worry about. She has been unquestionably isolated even before the pandemic began, & she rarely leaves her apartment. I know that her central Heating, Ventilation, & A/C system has been her life line throughout this entire social distancing ordeal. However, she clearly has not been taking enjoyable care of the air filter swings or HVAC duct cleanliness. It stinks like a troop of homeless people has been camped up inside her apartment, & I can only suppose the smell is coming from her air vents. I am still trying to feel of a sneaky strategy to approach the air quality topic. In the meantime I am unquestionably grateful that my face mask has been hiding my disgusted expression.
