It’s certainly interesting the fallacies that humans will tell themselves.
For as long as I’ve known him, my partner has been endlessly bitching & complaining about the central heating & cooling system at her office.
He’s always told me that the company thermostat was controlled by a tyrant & the indoor air quality was inadequate for work. She said that the air temperature somehow fluctuated between being wildly cold & brutally overheated depending on the day. She would bring many outfits of clothing with him everyday, in order to compensate for the unpredictable air quality that she was going to experience. For over five years, her largest complaints in life was having to contend with excruciating indoor air quality management. Every time I asked how things were going at the office, she would let out a deep sigh & start her rant about the central heating & cooling system. She was convinced that the low quality air was holding him back & preventing him from doing her best toil everyday. And I believed him. Together, my pal and I worked out many plans to convince her bosses to upgrade to the central Heating, Ventilation, & A/C system or take a more democratic stance on thermostat programming. Surely, if she brought a convincing argument to her bosses, they would have to make educated decisions about upgrading the furnace & a/c. The thing is, my partner has been working from home for the past two months now… And I wouldn’t say her performance has improved. He’s still getting downside reviews on a official basis. She has complete control of our central heating & cooling system at home, so I have to wonder what her excuse is these afternoons.
