I am really into traveling as much as possible.
I love to get in a car and hit the open road the most.
I feel like that is the closest I ever get to freedom. Sure, some people think that it’s really convenient to go to the airport and get on an airplane. I understand that you can arrive at your destination much faster than if you drive. However, to me I am not willing to trade in my freedom and control just to get somewhere a bit faster. It’s so much less comfortable and more stressful. Similarly, I don’t understand how people consider cruise ships to be a fun vacation. For me, a boat is just another form of transportation. Where are you going? Why aren’t you getting off the boat? The thought of being trapped on the ocean in a closed vessel freaks me out. Mostly, I start thinking about the on-board indoor air conditions. What if the HVAC systems on the ship break down? Do they have enough on board HVAC professionals willing to repair the massive central heating and cooling systems that power the ship? Is there enough natural ventilation if they can’t get the air temperature control equipment up and running again? Can you even open the port windows on your stuffy little cruise ship rooms? I get very scared that you would wind up stuck inside a closet-sized room with no flowing air. I imagine the air getting very stagnant and difficult to breathe. I somehow I assume that the air will start heating up to a million degrees, and there will be nowhere to escape from the uncomfortable Heat. Maybe this is just my disastrous thinking getting ahead of me, but I don’t think I could sacrifice my HVAC comfort for a week spent on a ship.
