Smelling a funky odor in my house may be due to humidifier

I ended up replacing the pad and cleaning the humidifier’s housing

I try to keep my house as tidy as possible. However having a husband who owns a landscaping business and who is always dirty every time he walks into the house can be hard to keep my floors clean. He will track in a lot of dirt and grass from his boots and clothing. It annoys me sometimes because there are days where he just doesn’t clean up after himself and expects me to clean it up. It’s also hard to keep my house clean because I have three kids as well. There are always toys laying around and food crumbs on my couches and floors. I try to dedicate the weekends to being my big cleaning days. But sometimes my dogs will instantly make my house dirty once I have it all cleaned. They shed a lot and sometimes even stink. The other day I could smell a really bad odor and I thought it was from one of my dogs and that they may have gotten into something outside. The smell was coming from where my humidifier is located at. When opening up my humidifier I found that it’s pad was full of mold and mineral deposits. I figured that this is what must have been stinking up my home. I ended up replacing the pad and cleaning the humidifier’s housing. While I was cleaning it I was wondering if the mold ended up getting into the evaporator coil. I’m thinking that I’m going to have to call my local HVAC technician to have him take a look at it for me to see if it needs replacing.
