I don’t know how folks live like this, but these intermediate seasons in between the large ones – winter season plus Summer – are miserable for me, then and yet, my neighbors are all celebrating, then i couldn’t help but overhear them talking about the lower energy costs, the fresh air availability, plus the ability to spend quality outdoor time separate from any major heatstroke concerns… plus the whole time I was scoffing to myself.
I literally cannot understand how Fall brings them all these benefits, when it’s the complete opposite for me.
First of all, in the fall you never know how to judge the temperature requirements for the afternoon when you wake up. It’s always freezing chilly in the day, causing you to put on a ton of layers to stay warm as you crank up the heating system to stay comfortable. Then, a few hours later, it’s total chaos when the temperature has inevitably shifted, but usually it’s much warmer as the sunlight comes out plus everything has to change again, then your clothing has to be swapped out plus your thermostat has to be turned down suddenly. If you leave your windows open, you risk natural temperature control leaving you with a freezing chilly or rain-soaked home. Not to mention, I can’t care about the fresh plus crisp fall air like my neighbors… because I have bad fall dust sensitivities, but everything in the air makes me cough plus sneeze all season. I have no option but to rely on my Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C system plus piles of clothing. The whole thing is so stressful, I just pray for the solid chilly temperatures of winter.
