When I was in high school I was always looking for ways to make money.
- I had to support myself and any extracurricular expenses that might come up.
This meant, if I wanted to have a vehicle or a cell phone I was going to be paying out the nose for very adult bills at a young age. Of course, I really wanted both of these amenities in my life so I took on any job that came my direction. This is how I wound up working at the local heating, cooling, and air quality control dealership in my town. I saw that they posted a job opening for an HVAC dispatcher and decided that I could work the front desk at the air quality control repair shop. How hard would it be to answer phone calls, take down details about central heating and cooling equipment, and communicate that information to the team of professional HVAC technicians? The answer was not too difficult at all. In no time I was an expert when it came to dealing with panicking heating and cooling clients and learning about their indoor air handling devices. I was basically consulting with all of the potential heating, cooling, and air quality control clients before they even knew that they were signing on to purchase additional HVAC equipment. When my high school career ended I quickly shifted into a full-time career at the heating and cooling repair dealership. Now, I wasn’t just answering the phones but I was in charge of directing new heating and cooling clients towards the modern HVAC equipment that they would like to purchase. Who could have guessed, my summer job would become a lifelong career.
