For the first time in my life I contacted a custom furniture builder to create a kitchen table for me.
I just couldn’t find a small square table that was made of good quality wood.
I also wanted the wood to match my living room ceiling. After I got the table I was shocked at how much I loved it. I realized that I wanted a TV stand in the same wood. My kitchen and living room are all one space. So the new table and old TV stand were essentially side by side. One was made of river recovered heart pine and of amazing quality. The other was a thrift store pick up and was cheap plywood. You could really tell which was which. So I made the choice to contact the guy again for another piece. He immediately got to work on a TV stand. He designed the shelving and drawers. He decided on dimensions. I just loved what he came up with. It looks so amazing in the living room. The table and TV stand create an eye catching combination. What I really appreciate is that the builder created soft close doors. They are in spring so you can pop them open too. For my baby boy, I removed the springs so he can’t open them. All the hardware is smooth, sleek, and modern. It fits my decor and it’s safe for my baby. Now that I have two pieces from the same builder and of the same material, I need to update an end table and shoe rack. That will really tie the rest of my house in.
