A Smelly House

Fall and I have a love/hate relationship. Yes, I’m talking about the season, Fall. Fall brings cooler weather and everything pumpkin spice which I actually love! Up North where I live, Fall also turns the leaves the most vibrant, beautiful colors imaginable. With my love for Fall also comes a dread. I hate to guess about the fact that Fall means that the cold, dreary winter is coming. Towards the end of Fall is when it really gets tough. Turning the heating system on for the first time each year is always a nightmare. Last year, I turned the heating system on for the first time that season, and the house smelt like burning dust for days. I have to admit that I was pregnant last year, so maybe that’s why the odor bothered me so badly, although I am still dreading having to turn on the heating system again this year. Thinking back on it, not only did the house have a funny odor for days, a smokey residue filled the air. I’m guessing it’s just the heating system burning away all the dust and cobwebs from the Summer months, but whatever it is, I don’t like it. I’m thinking about asking one of my good friends to come over and provide me some advice on how to scrub my heating system properly so that I can avoid the smell in the years to come. With all that said, I’m not really sure whether I love Fall or hate it. Maybe, I’ll love it more if I can keep my heating system from filling my house with smoke and smelling it up each year.
